Quality Orthodontic Treatment

At Maplewood Dental, our mission is to help each of our patients achieve a healthy, beautiful smile that they're proud to call their own. Our doctors and expert team of highly trained dental specialists take a personalized approach to care, working with each patient individually to design a comprehensive treatment plan that helps them achieve the smile of their dreams. We are proud to offer Invisalign: a revolutionary alternative to traditional metal braces.

A Clear Difference

While traditional braces use metal wires and brackets to gradually shift the teeth to new positions, Invisalign uses a different method altogether. Instead of metal wires and brackets, Invisalign relies on a series of clear, removable plastic trays – called aligners – that fit directly onto the teeth. The aligners are virtually invisible when worn and easy to pop in and out to brush, floss, eat, and drink. This means almost no one will know you're straightening your teeth, you can still enjoy all your favorite foods, and maintaining oral hygiene – something absolutely critical to successful orthodontic treatment – is as easy as ever!

The Invisalign Process

While Invisalign uses a different mechanism to move teeth, the overall treatment process is still largely similar. For most patients, treatment will go as follows:

  • First, we will perform a comprehensive orthodontic evaluation to determine what conditions you have and the best method for treating them. This will include x-rays, photographs, and impressions.

  • In about one month we will meet to view a 3D proposal and ensure all treatment goals and objectives are met. Per the doctor’s instructions, Invisalign will then manufacture a series of custom-made aligners. These are custom manufactured to fit your unique teeth and bite.

  • Once you receive your aligners, each pair will be worn for about two weeks. With each new set of aligners, your teeth will move closer to their final positions.

After orthodontic treatment, you will need to wear a retainer to ensure your teeth hold to their new positions. We will give you detailed instructions on wearing and caring for your retainer at that time.
